We believe that the challenges of our time cannot be solved by the same frantic mindsets that created them. True, lasting impact requires a new type of leaders and changemakers who take full personal responsibility for cultivating holistic health and alignment, within and around themselves.
The word Vuka means wake-up, or arise, in the Nguni languages of Southern Africa. By immersing yourself in a Vuka adventure, you intentionally break the cycle of reactive decision-making and arise from extractive, transactional survival mode. You leave behind the noise to recalibrate your internal compass. Alone or with other like-minded people, you co-create a space to pause, reset, and move into a more grounded, intentional, and regenerative way of living and leading.
When you return to your personal and professional ecosystems, you find yourself operating from an integrated core of connectedness and decisiveness. You don't just survive the pressure anymore, -you become equipped to foster a world where high-integrity collaboration and regenerative action are the norm.

We know the immense weight that comes with carrying a vision for systemic change, particularly when you realize that this work must start at individual, family and community levels. It is easy to lose your balance when the world around you never stops shouting.

Vuka Adventure’s Founder, Coach JB, is a humanitarian professional, EMCC accredited practitioner and leadership coach, with over 25 years of international experience in field operations, for the most part in Africa. For the past decade, he has been residing with his Euro-African family in the safe and beautiful Kingdom of Eswatini. Earlier in his career, JB had faced a couple of severe burnouts. Following an extensive number of deployments in violent conflict zones and highly degraded contexts, coordinating multi-million USD emergency response programs, (see for example his appearance in this Telegraph article), JB found himself battling with increasingly crippling symptoms of chronic anxiety and post-traumatic stress. A series of dramatic wake-up calls in his personal and professional life brought him to a complete stop, from which he had to embark on a healing journey to find back his roots. Forced to re-invent himself, he chose to engage wholeheartedly at grassroot level into coaching and mentoring, psycho-social and peer-support, wilderness immersion, and the exploration of many different therapeutic modalities, for himself and his coaching clients.
This slow inner journey led Coach JB to gradually regain some clarity, perspectives and energy, while at the same time helping him to transform and refine his personal change-making philosophy, allowing him to integrate his firefighting humanitarian skills and extensive field experience with a more radically transformative and inside-out approach to sustainable change and leadership.
It is this integrative approach, -anchored in humanitarian work and personal development, systems thinking and root cause analysis, that serves today as the foundations and guides for the development and maturation of the multi-dimensional journeys offered by Vuka Adventures.
Our transformational programs aim at bridging holistic wellness with strategic reasoning, somatic embodiment, deep systems thinking, and other evidence-based modalities, to lead change and regeneration at individual, organizational and systemic levels.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?"
